This replacement cadmium plated Chevy gas cap is very similar to the original cap. It is a non-vented cap just like the original Chevy cap. All 1955-57 fuel systems vent via a slot in the filler neck, not out the cap. The paper gasket on the original Chevy gas cap often goes bad after 50 years and the cadmium finish is usually discolored.
