From 1964-1977 GM A Bodies were equipped in one of 4 ways regarding front sway bars. They were delivered without one, with an 11/16", 7/8" or with a hi-performance F41 1" bar. For cars equipped without a bar the Hellwig bar will make a night and day difference in improved cornering. For cars with the standard 7/8" bar you'll be getting a 50% bigger bar with a whopping 500% increase in roll stiffness which translates into seat of the pants performance you can really feel. Unfortunately A-body cars, like Chevelles and El Caminos, with factory equipped sway bars have a terrible tendency to roll heavily in corners which places most of the cornering load on the outside of the tire. This results in a loss of cornering force and unnecessary tire wear. Regardless of what bar your car came with, the Hellwig sway bar will keep your front tire firmly planted on the ground for great handling and dramatically reduce the uncomfortable feeling you have in hard cornering when the car leans so hard to one side or the other it feels like its going to fall over. Hellwig anti-sway bars are supplied with polyurethane mounting bushings so you get instantaneous sway bar reaction when you hit the corner. In addition to improved performance you'll find Hellwig's heat treated 4140 chrome moly steel bar is 50% stronger than aftermarket and factory non-heat treated bars and you'll like the good looks of their hammer tone silver bars that won't chip or peel ever! Each Hellwig bar is supplied with grade 8 mounting bolts, the best in the industry, and large 7/8" cap screws that are virtually indestructible.
