El Camino Heater Control Blower Motor Switch, With Air Conditioning, Original AC Delco, 1973-1977

  Discontinued since 7/1/81, the original 5 prong switch used the 5th prong for the continuous fan operation. GM engineers found that the fan operation created a safety hazard for tired drivers falling asleep at the wheel. Because of this, the design was changed to a 4 prong to eliminate the use of this function. This 4 prong design is the GM replacement.   Murphy’s Law… you hop in your prized 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977 El Camino on a freezing day, or if you have AC, a super hot day, and fire up your baby. You go to adjust the cabin temperature and……nothing happens. You slap your dash and belt out a few obscenities or something like that. It could be your blower motor, or the wiring, but most likely it’s the 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977 El Camino blower motor switch. This little electo-mechanical device allows current to flow to the blower motor to warm or cool your interior or defrost your windows. Over time, the contacts wear and switch begins to fail.
