  This replacement offset upper control arm shaft corrects an inherent GM design flaw in the stock upper control arm alignment settings.  Original alignment specs were set to help manual steering cars steer easier.  The problem is it causes the wheel to tilt outward at the top when turning which means the tire is forced to roll over toward it's sidewall.  This is called negative caster.  Shopping cart front wheels have lots of negative caster.  These shafts have slightly different geometry which will cause the tire to tilt inward at the top when turning, and greatly improve their "bite" on the pavement.  This is called positive caster.  An alignment shop can easily set a car with these shafts for 2-3 degrees positive caster.  This is ideal for our old A-Bodies.  The other original alignment specs, toe and camber, are fine.  You won't believe how much better your A-Body will feel when turning.  These should be replaced in pairs, so order two if you are making the switch from stock. NOTE:  Some early 1964s had a different style upper A-Arm design.  It can be identified by checking for grease fittings on the ends of the shaft.  If you have those you will need to get a 1965-1972 style upper control arm to use this kit.
