While the shoulder belt retainer is important in retaining your seat belt in a locked position, the shoulder pull-strap escutcheon is necessary in keeping the retainer in place in your 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, or 1987 El Camino. The door pull-strap escutcheon holds your El Camino's shoulder belt retainer to the upper portion of your seat, and without it, the retainer could not be held up, and your shoulder retainer would fall. This is a commonly overlooked or lost item during seat upholstery replacement, but is important for function and for the look of your El Camino's interior.
