These El Camino Del-a-lum suspension bushings achieve unequaled suspension control which can be utilized for street, strip or racing. Performing more like a ball bearing than a bushing, the outer steel sleeve contains an internal plastic insert which rotates on a steel, inner sleeve. Each side of the bushing is reinforced with additional plastic thrust washers backed by steel thrust washers which provides control of fore and aft bushing flexion. A grease fitting is utilized with each bushing to provide full-access lubrication which leads to longer bushing life. Del-a-lum bushings do not squeak or make noise making the fit and function superb for your restoration. You will also be pleased to know that The El Camino Store has sourced these control arm bushings among other possible parts as the best choice for your repair or restoration project. Please Note: Most stock upper control arm shafts on Chevelle’s from 1964 through 1972 generally use a 3/8 bolt at the end of the shaft. The 3/8 bolt holds the control arm bushing in place. In order to use Del-a-Lum bushings, the 3/8 bolt must be replaced with a 5/8 stud and slotted hex nut. Welding will be required. Once the bushing is in place and the nut is properly adjusted, a cotter pin is used to secure the nut. The torque required for the slotted nut holding the bushing in place is similar to that of a wheel bearing, therefore a cotter pin must be used for maintaining the setting.
